The brief
Existing customers of Fritz Fryer, Benchmark Designs, contacted us to help with the refurbishment of the café and seating area of The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. The re-design would encompass the ‘royal’ feel of the space and create an inviting space for guests to enjoy.
The design process
After visiting our stand at 100% design, in 2018, Benchmark Designs were very keen to incorporate the Aston Lantern into a project and The Royal Armouries Museum seemed to be the perfect project to do so.
To light the area over the counter within the main restaurant, Benchmark Design specified Fritz Fryer’s clear glass Hereford pendant lights and in the main seating area, the Aston Lanterns with clear glass tops and ribbed glass bottom’s offer the perfect level of light. Both the Aston and Hereford pendants were paired with polished brass metal work and burgundy flex to keep the luxurious, royal theme present.
The beautiful setting of the café makes for an ‘old meets new’ experience with the contemporary twist added by our pendant lights making the perfect match. The simplicity of the clear glass in the Hereford pendant lights over the bar area allows the focus to remain on the delicious food on offer, whilst the curve in the seating area is perfectly complimented by the tubular design of the Aston Lantern pendant lights.
