Antique Lighting

Our antique lighting collection celebrates the timeless charm and character of expertly restored period pieces. We have been restoring light fittings since 1982 and each fixture in our range has been carefully selected and meticulously refurbished by our skilled team, ensuring that every detail aligns with the authentic qualities of antique craftsmanship while meeting modern standards of safety and functionality.

A genuine antique light does something no reproduction quite manages: it carries its history into the room. Hand-cut crystal that has caught candlelight for a century, brass that has mellowed over decades, making of a quality the modern market rarely attempts.

Our antique collection is restored piece by piece in our Herefordshire workshop, where we have worked on period lighting since 1982. Every fitting, from antique chandeliers like our 5-branch French crystal chandelier and 19th century crystal chandelier to antique lanterns, antique wall lights and rare pieces like our plafonnier pair by F&C Osler, is stripped, restored, rewired and tested to current standards before sale.

Each piece is a one-off, so the collection changes constantly. If you are searching for something particular, a period, a size, a style, tell us. We source and restore regularly, and we will tell you honestly what we have, what is coming through the workshop, and what a piece is really worth.

Are your antique lights genuine originals?

Yes. Every piece in our antique collection is a genuine original, restored in our Herefordshire workshop where we have worked on period lighting since 1982. We describe each piece honestly, its period, its condition, and any sympathetic repairs, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Are antique lights safe to use in a modern home?

Yes, when properly restored, and that is the crucial qualifier. Every antique we sell is stripped, rewired in line with current standards and safety-tested before it leaves the workshop. Untested antique lights from general dealers should always be professionally rewired before use; ours arrive ready to fit.

What does your antique restoration involve?

Each antique fitting is dismantled, cleaned and assessed; damaged parts are repaired or remade by hand; then the piece is rewired in line with current standards and PAT-tested. Crystal is individually cleaned and missing drops replaced from our stock of period glass. The aim is a piece that keeps its history but works like new.

How much do antique lights cost?

Antique lights are priced individually by period, rarity and condition, from attainable wall lights and lanterns to significant crystal chandeliers. Honest pricing is part of our trade; tell us your budget and we will tell you straight what it buys, and flag pieces we consider under or over the market.

Can you source a specific antique light for me?

Often, yes. Period lighting passes through our workshop constantly and we have sourced and restored for over forty years. Tell us the period, style and size you are after, a Georgian lantern, a French crystal chandelier, and we will tell you what we have, what is coming, and keep an eye out on your behalf.

Can antique lights use LED bulbs?

Yes. All our restored antiques are rewired for modern bulbs and take LEDs, which is kind to the fitting: less heat, less strain on old wiring channels and shades, and much lower running cost. Dimmable warm-white LEDs give an antique piece its candlelit glow back.

Do antique lights come with a guarantee?

Every antique we sell leaves the workshop restored, rewired and safety-tested, and we stand behind that work. Antiques are one-offs, so we cannot replace like for like, but we service everything we sell and can repair and restore our pieces for decades to come.

Can you restore my own antique light?

Yes. Restoration is where the business began in 1982, and we restore customer pieces regularly, from family chandeliers to finds that need rewiring. Send us photographs and we will assess the piece, quote honestly, and tell you whether restoration makes sense or the piece is best left alone.
