Get The Look: 100% Design

Commercial Lighting

Here at Fritz Fryer we are passionate about what we do. Specialising in decorative hand-blown glass lighting that is made exclusively for us, here in the UK. Every fitting is made to order in our on-site workshop, packed by Dan our logistics wizard and shipped around the UK and worldwide.

We are always being asked by customers where they can see our products around London, so the show was a fantastic opportunity to venture out of our beautiful Herefordshire home and showcase our favourite pieces at 100% Design, Olympia (part of the 2018 London Design Festival).

The response was overwhelming. It was so refreshing to speak with customers, current and new, and to pass on our enthusiasm about our glass lighting and UK manufacturing.

As this was our first ever trade show, we designed a limited edition, gold plated Aston Lantern for the occasion.  Created by Simon, one of our directors, the Aston Lantern is inspired by the movements in vintage time pieces and has a somewhat steam punk aesthetic and literally hundreds of glass options because, like all the Fritz Fryer collection, the Aston lantern uses hand-blown glass, and the top and bottom sections are independent, so can feature different glass options, depending on your desired look.

Another new addition was an huge variant of the Wellington pendant!  The hand blown clear glass XXL Wellington Pendant light comes in at a whopping 49cm tall by 31cm in diameter. It is a spectacular piece of glass that we thought deserved an extra special bulb. In collaboration with Plumen we used the latest LED fully dimmable version of the 001 Plumen bulb which has been featured in the London Design Museum, a credit that speaks volumes!

Fritz Fryer's history began with restoring Antique lighting back in 1982 and the 100% Design show was a great opportunity to demonstrate our passion for mixing antique and contemporary lighting.  Our stand featured an antique crystal chandelier of late 19th century origins, attributed to F& C Osler and made in Birmingham, UK. The chandelier was originally made for gas with the gas taps still in place, our on-site workshop has done a spectacular job in restoring the chandelier back to life here in Ross-on-Wye.

We would like to thank each and every person that came by the stand in Olympia, your support and enthusiasm for our brand was graciously received. For those who could not make it we hope this is a little insight into the goings on at 100% design.

You can even shop the products from the stand below to get a taste of the action in your own home.

See you next year!
