What does the summer mean to you? Long warm days and glorious sunsets; picnics and pub gardens; catching up with friends after work and lovely countryside walks?
Fritz Fryer’s lighting showroom is based in Herefordshire – a county famous for fruit farming, cider and beef - and we love making the most of all it has to offer! In fact, we love it so much that we call our shades after the villages and towns that surround us. In summertime flagged bunting swings across streets and various events are promoted in shop windows for the local community to look forward to!
During the summer months, one of the world’s best literary events - the famous Hay Festival - takes place in the Welsh/English border town of Hay-on-Wye. For just over two weeks, this stunning little market town comes alive with its many bookshops and independent shops, providing a fantastic tourist location. Once a year it hosts the extraordinarily inspiring event: this prominent festival in British culture provides an extensive line up of literary greats, musicians and artists and is accessible for all to enjoy, whether attending a recital, a discussion, a concert or to sit under a tree with your newly purchased book.
This amazingly diverse festival inspired us to name our popular coolie shade The Hay Coolie, which is available in 4 types of glass on both wall lights and pendants. The Hay coolie is a classic, versatile shade that is also ideal for bathroom use on a IP44 bathroom fitting.
