Shop Talk

Our genuinely lovely and massively well organised Sales Account Manager, Paigle, processes our commercial and trade orders. She also deals with customer queries over the phone and online every day making sure our light fittings get to you just as you require and as quickly as possible!

Here's a chance to get to know her a little better!

--

Q. How long have you been working here?

I’ve worked here since October 2014 and I’m absolutely over the moon about joining the team. I remember my excitement when I first spoke with Karen and Simon regarding my position here; their pride of the company is highly contagious. I immediately fell in love with the business for its stunning products, historical position in the community, personal approach to customer care and sheer passion for high quality craftsmanship – not to mention the use of British-made parts, which is something I really care about.

Q. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

I grew up in a rural village in the Forest of Dean and moved to Ross-on-Wye just a few years ago.

Q. WHATS'S YOUR FAVOURITE CONTEMPORARY PIECE?

Our Sellack lanterns for their simple, sophisticated design and fine quality.

Q. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE ANTIQUE PIECE?

I love many of the quirky table lamps in the shop, such as the Hand Painted Chinese lamps. Accompanied with a modern fabric shade, their versatility fit into either a character or contemporary room while maintaining a great talking point. They create a fab atmosphere as task lighting next to a sofa for snuggling up and reading a good book.

Q. CHOCOLATE OR CHEESE?

Cheese. In large quantity. On everything.

Q. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE CHEESE?

I’m a versatile cheese lover. Blue cheese makes a great addition to a salad, but you can’t beat a mature cheddar over a spaghetti Bolognese. On the contrary, I’m not so keen on the addition of fruit to Wensleydale.

Q. IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

Wherever my nearest and dearest are is home to me. I don’t invest a lot into idealisation of grass being greener on the other side and I really appreciate a lot of British culture which is taken for granted. I love living in the countryside, so can’t imagine moving far from easy access to woodland, and if I was going to move abroad it would have to be somewhere with amazing food culture; Italy, perhaps.

Q. IF YOU COULD MEET ANY ONE PERSON (FROM HISTORY OR CURRENTLY ALIVE), WHO WOULD IT BE?

Any anonymous character with good mannerisms and interesting experiences to share; I don’t care much for celebrity status.

Q. WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?

When I was young(er), I primarily wanted to be a chef when I grew up; other times a Fire Fighter, later on Police or Probation Officer. Probably everything else in between.

Q. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE SPORT/ TEAM?

I don’t follow professional sports much, but I love to be active and will try my hand at most activities. In my spare time I practice Yoga and Pilates and attend various fitness classes including dance, insanity and spin. With friends I’ll often go for long walks, cycle or swim usually followed by an indulgent pub meal or a calorific ‘experimental’ hot chocolate, to keep a good balance.
