Q. How long have you been working here?
Since the Start of November 2015.
Q. Where did you grow up?
Most of my childhood was spent living in Herefordshire, The Forest of Dean, in a Pub. Later moving to Sellack, Ross-On-Wye and then Hereford. Having Lived in Belgium for a few years I returned to Ross 3 years ago.
Q. What's your favourite contemporary piece?
Tricky, I love the Hereford ribbed globe, the wellington ribbed also but I am drawn to the Sellack… with the bronze fitting and midi globe lamp. I also love the pendant sets with Bronze and Yellow Flex, also the nickel and red flex. The Squirrel cage pear and the midi globe look super cool. It’s a celebration of the lamp and the flex looks great as an accent colour in the home. I can’t answer this question straight, it would mean I have to be decisive!
Q. What's your favourite antique piece?
3 branch Art Deco light with the beautiful globe shades. It has a Bakelite Finial and I just love it!
Q. What's your favourite thing about working at Fritz Fryer?
I get to work with beautiful lighting- new and old every day. Each day is an opportunity to learn and celebrate British heritage, craftsmanship at its best. The small team in the office and the workshop have been hugely welcoming and patient with me. It is a very diverse business which provides a challenge for me as an individual and a mutual goal to deliver excellence.
I feel very lucky to be part of this exciting business. When I returned to Ross with my family we stumbled across the shop. I picked my daughter up so she could view the beautiful windows, she was just 2 years old then. This has turned into a regular event. Picking her up imitating the ‘Bisto’ advert, side stepping, ‘oohing and arring’ again. I do advise people to come In because the shop is just the most lovely show room. Brimming with new and old. Exquisite chandeliers displayed side by side, standard lamps, table lamps, lanterns wall sconces and contemporary lighting. Its beautifully authentic and very sparkly!
Q. Chocolate or Cheese?
I’ve been dreading this question! Okay its January I have spent the last month gorging on both! So, for now it’s NEITHER! But desert island… chocolate.
Q. Whats's your favourite cheese?
Stilton! I was apparently weaned on the stuff.
Q. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I have had the pleasure of travelling to some beautiful countries around the world. I would return to lake Tahoe in America, Noosa in Australia and always back to the Greek Islands. I’m obsessed with the Scandinavian countries and would love to travel extensively. One day Canada and Alaska, I loved a programme called Northern Exposure. A quirky series based in Alaska. Ever so slightly wonky and funny. I could be a nomad, how can I concentrate on work now! I’ll be day dreaming for the next month now!
Q. If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive) who would it be?
Can it be a dinner party?
Explorer : Sir Ernest Shackleton
Designer: William Morris
Comedy: Michael Mcintyre
Animator: Walt Disney
Furniture Designer: Greta Magnusson Grossman
Author: Roald Dahl
Q. What did you want to do when you grew up?
I’m not yet a proper grown up! A famous athlete or a horse rider.
Q. What's your favourite sport/ team?
I love so many sports. I love to run. My first love is athletics, followed by team sports. Its seasonal. I enjoy following the rugby, the tennis, skiing, athletics, on the odd occasion, Football. I’m completely clueless watching the cricket, sorry cricket fans. I perhaps need educating?!
